View of Checiny - Animated Painting

Client: National Museum in Kielce

Project: Exhibition Artwork Animation & Digitization

Original Artist: Józef Szermentowski ("View of Chęciny")

Role & Scope: Art Direction, Layer Separation & Digital Retouching, 2.5D Parallax Animation, Post-production

Challenge & Concept:
Breathing new digital life into Józef Szermentowski's 19th-century masterpiece. The project aimed to create an engaging, modern presentation format for classical fine art, designed specifically for the exhibition at the National Museum in Kielce.

Execution & Technique (2.5D Parallax):
The process required meticulous digital separation of the static painting into independent depth layers—background, the architecture of Chęcin, landscape elements, and figures. By applying subtle camera motion, light adjustments, and 2.5D parallax techniques, the animation allows viewers to step inside the 19th-century scene and experience its details in motion.

Final Effect:
The animated piece enriched the museum showcase of Szermentowski and Kostrzewski, capturing visitors' attention and offering a fresh, immersive perspective on historical heritage.
